Ultimate Change

We are proud to present our newest investment in the development of the ultimate community! We’re excited to be a part of Ultimate Change, the pilot domestic model for Ultimate Peace that looks to promote friendship, non-violence and fun, through clinics for disadvantaged youth across the U.S.

The Ultimate Change Clinics will promote the five tenets of Ultimate Peace, a non-profit that has created successful conflict resolution programs for youth using Ultimate in the Middle East. These tenets are mutual respect, friendship, non-violence, integrity, and fun. These standards will be applied through teaching Spirit of the Game (SOTG), the foundation of Ultimate Frisbee. SOTG encourages highly competitive play, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed upon rules, or the basic joy of play.

Ultimate Change will collaborate with Emerald City Ultimate (ECU), an elite Open team based out of Seattle, WA. The player and coaches will donate their time to hold ten clinics within underserved communities of Seattle. In addition, ECU will host five traveling clinics across the U.S. to help spread SOTG and the tenets of Ultimate Peace (Oakland, CA, Eugene, OR, Chicago, IL, Burlington, WA and one TBD clinic).

Ultimate has found a foothold in some urban areas but has not flourished because of transportation issues, field space, and financial restraints. Thus, ECU will partner with community centers in targeted areas to draw interested youth to clinics held in their own neighborhoods.

Coaches: Our coaches are High School Champions, College Champions, Club Champions, Spirit Award winners, World Champions at the Co-ed and Youth levels and Team U.S.A. Champions. The core members of ECU have many years of non-profit work within the Ultimate Frisbee community, Ultimate Peace itself, and international communities in Colombia, Germany, Czech Republic, Israel, Australia, Japan and Canada teaching many of the same principles being administered by ECU.
