College Sponsorships

It’s that time of year again. The air is crisp, the leaves are falling, and you are heading back to school, hard at work recruiting a fresh batch of talented rookies for the 2010 Ultimate season. To welcome the changing seasons, Five Ultimate is happy to announce our second annual College Sponsorship Program. We founded this program last year to show our support for the hard work that college players put into their teams despite the demands of school, jobs, and the rest of life. Through this sponsorship, we hope to make our sponsored teams’ seasons just a little bit easier by providing them with sweet Five gear, and also do our small part to help strengthen College Ultimate as a whole.

To launch our sponsorship program this year, we will once again invite any interested college team to send in an application. In case you missed it last year, here’s how our program is structured: We offer 10 sponsorships to competitive college programs and 10 to growing college programs. These sponsorships will be tailored to fit the needs of these different types of programs. To our ten chosen highly competitive programs, we will offer for each rostered player:

- Free sublimated jersey, designed by your team
- Replica sublimated jerseys for sale in the Five Ultimate online store – 20% of revenue goes to your team
- 50% off the base price of shorts
- 50% off the base price of jerseys
- 50% off the base price of hoodies, jackets, and gear bags
- Featured team page on Five Ultimate website

…and to our ten chosen growing programs, we will offer:

- 100% off base price of shorts
- Free team trucker hats with one screen for players, fans, and opponents (70 total)
- 50% off the base price of additional shorts
- 50% off the base price of jerseys
- 50% off the base price of Five hoodies, jackets, and gear bags
- Featured team page on Five Ultimate website

Half of the teams we accept in each category will be Women’s teams, half will be Open teams. We will chose each program based on its performance at tournaments, its potential for future achievement, and its devotion to the growth of Ultimate. Teams we choose to sponsor will be those that best reflect the hard-working, fun-loving attitude that we maintain here at Five Ultimate. They will be teams that can be trusted to always uphold highest levels of good spirit and sportsmanship. Applicants for the ten competitive team sponsorship spots should demonstrate how their teams show excellent commitment to the sport of ultimate through dedication to competitive play and high achievement. Applicants for our growth-focused team sponsorships should demonstrate the ways their program is drawing new talent into our sport and/or working to take a committed program to the next level – whatever level that may be. It is up to you to decide which category best fits your team.

A few details to keep in mind as you apply: The sponsorship discount applies to the first set of gear for each rostered player on your team. Extra items can be purchased at regular cost. Screen printing is at regular cost on all gear. Teams that are chosen for participation will be requested to wear only Five Ultimate gear – jerseys and shorts – during game time. We will also request that our sponsored teams provide us with updates throughout the season, a short bio and photos of their team to post on our website.

Club Sponsorships

In recognition of the dedication, skill, and athleticism that makes club ultimate so exciting, Five Ultimate created a club sponsorship program that rewards the hard work of top teams. These teams push ultimate to new levels, and maintain the highest level of competition within our sport. Their amazing plays make the game exciting to watch, and inspire the rest of us to play harder, run our track workouts, and just go for that layout D. The club teams we sponsor aren’t just all-stars on the field, though. As we sat down to consider a club sponsorship program, we couldn’t help getting excited about the elite ultimate community’s potential to impact the sport in another way: growing youth ultimate. We wanted to direct our program not just towards the current generation of club ultimate players, but also towards the future of ultimate. Therefore, we are providing support and incentive for the club teams we sponsor to expand their support youth ultimate in their area. We hope that by creating a program that rewards club teams for growing youth ultimate in their area, we have created something deeper and more meaningful – and more fun – than the average sponsorship. Women’s Ultimate Initiative

The future of ultimate relies on a community that is diverse and deep, but demographics currently show that women are underrepresented at all levels of ultimate. We at Five want to help inspire ultimate players to contribute to building our sport for a successful and sustainable future. The Five Ultimate Women’s Ultimate Initiative seeks to engage in projects that will promote and support women’s ultimate. The Initiative will engage women across the youth, college, and club levels and promote connections between them. We hope you’ll help us make this program a success by getting involved!

Women’s Ultimate Initiative Pilot Program: College Women’s Ultimate and the greater ultimate community:

Here at Five, we believe that ultimate brings a lot of wonderful things into our lives – confidence, sportsmanship, life balance, and a team full of friends who help ease the craziness of life. In the spirit of sharing in these things that are so awesome about our sport, this year we offered college women’s teams a little incentive to do just that: share. We asked teams to take on projects to promote women’s ultimate through grass-roots involvement in our communities. We challenged teams to come up with projects that would grow and/or develop women’s ultimate either within college ultimate or across different levels of the sport.
